My summer is going pretty well. Just working a lot and I try to go to the pool when I can. I'm ready for the WEEKEND! Good thing tomorrow is Friday, I have an infusion tomorrow afternoon at 2:30, and then I am FREE until Monday! YAY!!!

Sick of this flare, but as long as I don't try to stand up too long or eat anything it's tolerable.  Chillin' with some George Strait right now.  How's your summer going?

It's weird.  I've been a complete Trekkie geek for nearly 20 years, but I'm very picky about sci-fi in general.  If it's done well, sci-fi uses different people and places to reflect ourselves, thus giving us a different look at who we are.  In Star Trek, for instance, the Federation was really the U.S. and the Klingons were Russia; when they aired a Klingon episode, it was really about the Cold War.  When sci-fi ignores us, though, and just gets caught up in its own made-up people and worlds, that's when it loses my interest.

Today, I'm doing well (so far).  Our local library branch is closing at the end of the month to begin transferring everything to the new, state-of-the-art facility and won't reopen until January.  The nice thing is, they're letting us check things out now and we don't have to have them back until the new place opens, so I've stocked up on autobiographies for the next two months.  Johnny Cash, Alec Guinness and Ronald Reagan--how's that for a trio?
