Hi Christina! Welcome to the site. I just read your discussion post in College & Crohn's. I am so sorry to hear about your aunt, it is awful that it took the doctors so long to realize what was going on. Thank you for continuing to show your support to Crohn's patients! Look forward to talking with u more! :)
My name is Christina and I am a new member of this site.My aunt died of complications from Crohns about 8 years ago and I am a supporter. She went misdiagnosed for so long (back in the 80s when little was known about the disease) that she lost almost her entire small intestine. The doctors tried to tell her she was anorexic and with no other options, my grandparents started looking into to mental clinics for her. Finally a doctor diagnosed her with Crohns in the early 80s - she weighed not even 90 lbs by the time they started treating her. I am a writer, and I would like to write an article telling her story and the story of Crohns to bring awareness to the disease and its symptoms. However, I need some help from people who are suffering from the disease today. If you would be willing to be interviewed via email please let me know. Right now the article is just for a class I am taking in my master's program, but I hope to submit it for publication to a health magazine or journal at some point. Thank you! Christina.
