Just an FYI for everyone on remicade, there is a program that remicade provides called remistart that remburses for some of the expenses that are incurred with the infusions. To get started on remistart just type remistart enrollment form into any search engine. This will bring up the form and it has instuctions on what to do from here. Hope this helps.

I think that marybeth had a portacath for a while, I can't remember though!!!! Sometimes I wonder why I don't have track marks yet LOL, althought I get mine every 8 wks rather than 4. I hope your bruisies heal up soon.

Ive been taking Remicade for about five years and it works for me..no pain, weight gain, fewer bathroom trips...it is worth finding out about if you are tired of pills, etc.

    Hey Jay,

Well this is how mine seem to go. I go to the infusion center (the first time they take your name and information, weigh you and such). Then you get to sit in this big comfy reclining chair (kinda like a lazy boy). They take your temp and blood pressure before they start. Your IV is injected and your given a normal saline drip, then they put the remicade on and it takes about 2 hours to get it all into you. The first few times they ask you to stay for 30 mins after the procedure to make sure your ok. You can sign a waiver and leave earlier if your fine. Theres usually 3-5 others getting it too. Where I go theres a TV in the room and we all agreed to watch a movie. Oh and the nurses take your temp and blood pressure every 15mins. Oh and they have free juice and cookies at most of the centers. I'd suggest bringing a book or something to do while there.

Yeah I'm hoping things will go well.  Anybody want to explain the process to me.  My doc said its supposed to take three and half hours.  Am I just going to sit there while it gets pumped in for that long??  Is there anything I should be worried about/should know?  I hope theres a tv!

Basically if somebody could explain how their infusions go that would be really helpful.

    Thanks...
