Montana IBD Community

This group is for people in Montana with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. We're pretty isolated in Montana and we face many unique challenges. Many with IBD have never met another person with IBD! It's my hope that we can use this online community to meet others in Montana with IBD, and establish not only a virtual community but also a real, face-to-face support and education community. If you are a Montanan, a Cat or a Griz, please join!!

    Hi Rachel!

I'm so glad you found me! My plan worked! I'm in Bozeman and am working to try to connect everybody in MT and form some sort of network. So, I'm trying out all of the different social networks and stuff to see what will work best. I just finished a fellowship with CCFA this summer and have been doing a lot of research and meeting and interviewing people all over MT. I haven't talked to anyone from Missoula, though -- yet.

I totally relate to your son. I was 19 when I was diagnosed. And, went through everything horrible you can imagine. Having my colon removed was good -- for a  while. But, there are so many other problems that I've had since then. I think for most people things are much better, though. I think he's the first person to do Cimzia that I know of, too. Humira is still working for me at this point but I imagine that's next sometime.

I'd love to talk to you more about your son and the whole MT thing. I'm just starting my dissertation and am trying to plan it all out -- the proposal, etc. So, I'd love any input from you.

I'm just on my way out the door to go to MN for a long weekend -- family visit, not Mayo, for once. I haven't been there since the 2 month odyssey last year. I'm going to be going to a bunch of Twins games!! Huge fan ...

I'll have my laptop and ipod with me, though, so I'll check back.

    Good to talk to you!

Yeah!!!!! Thank You!!! Finally someone else to comiserate with about the high cost of meds here and few doctors we have. We live in Missoula. My son was diagnosed with severe perianal/pancolic crohn's about 4 years ago at age 15. He has been thru Remicade, Humira and now just starting Cimzia. He has no hope that this is going to work for him as nothing else has. He like all crohnies takes hugh handfuls of other meds daily yet still has about 15-20 BMs daily. He has become so frustrated he wants his whole large bowel removed so he can have even just a few months pain and diarrhea free.  Where are you at in our beautiful state.
