Tell us about your experience with/connection to Crohns Disease

During my pregnancy in 2005 I experienced frequent diarrhea during my first trimester.  Symptoms subsided during my second trimester and came on full force during my third trimester.  All along my OB/GYN and I believed it was associated to hormones and dismissed the blood in the diarrhea for potential hemmroids.  One...

Hi There Amy, tried sending you a message, but it seemed to fail. Our stories are quite similar. I noticed bloody stools during my pregnancy, my gynae was sure it was something like piles and told me not to worry. My daughter was born December 2006 - very healthy. By Feb'07 I was bleeding allot and still didn't know what was wrong. I was feeling very weak and had my second colonoscopy. Doctors found "unexplainable inflamation"! For a month I was left untreated untill I went for a second opinion and had another colonoscopy - this time I was diagnozed and put on asacol & prednisone (immediately had to stop breastfeeding...) Think It was a little too late - was in hospital again within a week - I just couldn't keep any of the meds down (was vomiting and had bad diarree). Took quite a few months to get out of that flare since I knew absolutely NOTHING about the disease. I went into remission for only 3 months. Had another flare and then I went onto a clinical trail for UC. Currently I am in remission - jay! Anyways, just wanted to share, and I hope that you feel better soon - and your son is beautiful!
